Because God pays his employees better.

ImageIf you have not  already read the story of the waitress who was stiffed by the pastor you can do so here.

I feel her pain.  Because as anyone who has worked in a restaurant knows — “Church People” suck.

I’m not saying that people who go to church suck.  But “Church People” — a subset of customers that frequent restaurants on Sundays between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM — they SUCK.  (Please note the ALL CAPS in intended for emphasis of suckitude.)

Back in college I worked at an Olive Garden.  We had a lunch special that was all you can eat soup, salad and breadsticks for $3.49.  (It was the late 80’s and yes I am older than you.)

It was not uncommon to be waiting on a group of 12 holy folks  ordering the soup/salad special.

I inserted the word “folks” for an alternate f-word as this is a PG blog.

At the Olive Garden there is not a self serve soup and salad bar but it is delivered — and refilled — to your table by the server.   That’s 12 x $3.49.  You do the math.   On second thought, I’ll do it.

It’s $41.88.

And the topper is the tip was usually in the 5% to 10% range.  Sometimes it was 0%.  The zero tippers generally left a little note blessing me.  Or a card with a Psalm on it.

Whatever your opinion is about tipping — that’s up for debate.  But one truth is not:

Church People suck.
